Spain

Spain is a fascinating mix of people, languages, culture and food, but if there is one thing all Spaniards share, it's a love of food and drink."

Spain, a majestic nation home to 48 million people, is rich in history and tradition. From the eye-catching, innovative designs of Antoni Gaudí to the natural beauty of the Balearic Islands, this majestic nation has everything.

Barcelona in particular holds a place close to my heart. The perfect blend of city and beach break, this splendid Mediterranean port is home to some of the most incredible architecture in the world. From the grandiose Sagrada Familia and the unorthodox Casa Batlló to the fantastical gingerbread-like Parc Güell, it’s impossible to draw your eyes away from anything in this wonderful city.

Then there’s the cuisine. The Spanish know how to dine. Sample the mixed tapas, load up on the fresh seafood paella and indulge in the rich wines from Andalusia. Head out to dance the flamenco, explore the quiet streets in sleepy villages and bask in the sunshine on over 1,600 kilometres of Mediterranean coastline.

There’s also the islands. From the Canaries off the coast of Africa to the Balearics in the Mediterranean, it’s not just the mainland that boasts serene beaches and pretty fishing villages. Ibiza, known as the “White Isle”, may be famous for its hedonistic parties but across the rest of the island heavenly shores line the coastal waters sparkling in the summer sunshine. Wherever you visit in Spain, you’re surely in for a treat.
